Day 25 – Things I Miss

This topic could mean many different things. Does it mean objects, memories, people, places? In a general sense, I miss childhood in the 90's, Carley (my still-best friend whom moved to Reno for University 4 years ago), my dad (moved to Kentucky over a year ago), my grandma (moved to Kentucky 6 years ago), grandpa (died about 8 years ago), Reno (one of the neatest places I've ever visited), and in a way, one of my ex-boyfriends (though that's in a friendship sense, I was over the relationship part ages ago).

It actually took me quite a while to even come up with that list. I don't often miss things, because I'm just happy that they happened. Besides, why ruin the nostalgia with reliving the reality? The things we miss could possibly be covered by rose-tinted glasses after all. lol That's not to say that missing things is a bad thing though, it shows that we're human. :)

What kinds of things, people, places, memories, do you miss? :)

This was the very last post from the topic challenge, so i hope you enjoyed them! I'm hoping to start a new, different series for every Tuesday, in the near future, so keep checking back! :)

Day 24 – My Favorite Place

Currently, my favorite place has been on my balcony at about 5am. My balcony faces West, so I get to see the pretty light hit the mountains without being blinded by actual sun, and the temperature is perfect. It also overlooks a semi-secluded street, so there's a sense of privacy. Sometimes I just sit out there with a cup of tea, just watching the day start, and sometimes I like to plan out my blogs and play around on my laptop. I've taken a lot of my favorite pictures on this balcony as well! I think as long as I live in this apartment, the balcony will be my favorite place.

What is your favorite place? :)

All photos by myself.

Day 23 – My Fears

I have the same fears that most people do. Heights, losing a loved one, needles, not being able to pay my bills and buy groceries, serial killers, and clowns. Luckily I'm not the type of person that freaks out and screams when any clown is near them, but a have a mini heart attack when it's a purposely evil clown. I was fine with clowns before, but after a haunted house when I was 13 that kind of changed. The clown had a chainsaw and cornered 4 of us. After 3 minutes, the football player realized he was in fact a football player and pushed the clown out of the way so we can continue. I know you aren't supposed to touch them, but he was a big clown and he blocked the entire pathway! I don't care if the chain wasn't on the chainsaw, that was terrifying. lol

What are you afraid of? :)

Day 22 – Things I’m Good at

In general, I like to think I have a good creative eye. I like to put together cute outfits, decorate rooms, decorate cakes, draw, practice amateur photography, and try other various artistic mediums.

I spend lots of time on polyvore.com when I want to style outfits or decorate rooms without being near my own stuff. That isn't to say I don't spend days off playing dress up with what I've got though! lol

Day 21 – Things That Makes Me Cry

If you were to ask me this a little over a year ago, I would have a never-ending list. Luckily my list has gotten much shorter since then! Things that make me cry: animal cruelty, touching moments (especially on TV and movies), the death of someone close to me, too much stress, those random sad moods that everyone has, and of course, the Notebook. How is it that nearly every girl in existence has cried at the end of the Notebook every time? Those people definitely knew the inner workings of women. lol

Sorry about such a short post, but I don't like to dwell on negativity. I have to admit, I only wrote this post because it was on the topic challenge list and I had already skipped so many of them!

What makes you cry, happy or sad tears?

Day 19 – Things That Upset Me

A few things that upset me: Too many bad things happening at once, lots of big changes happening at once, and when something doesn't go the way I want it to at work. Looking at this list, I notice that it makes me look like a spoiled brat, but that's not the case. lol

An example for too many bad things at once, let's say I got very sick the night before work, got heat exhaustion from waiting for a tow truck earlier in the day, have been trying to find someone to cover my shift at work for 4 hours straight, have a guy trying to buy the broken truck from me right on the spot when I have other things to worry about, and on top of all of that I have sleep deprivation. With all of that going on at once, I think anyone would be upset. And the funny thing is, all of that actually happened to me at the same time!

As for changes, I'm not really one to like change, but I try to go with the flow of things. I might be upset at first, but after a while I tend to get over it and act like things have always been that way. I got that from my dad. lol

At work, I like to have things a certain way and like to enforce the rules my company tells me to enforce. But if someone messes with my system while I'm not working or if a client tries to pull a fast one because they think I won't notice (which never happens because none of them are as sneaky as they think), I have to admit I get a little upset. I don't get angry enough to show it, but I hide how mad I get for the sake of professionalism. Flying off the handle won't help things, after all.

What kinds of things upset you? :)

Day 18 – My Bad Sides

Personality-wise, I'd say my bad sides tend to be procrastination, occasional crankiness, laziness, and I'm terrible at moving to new homes.

Whenever I start a drawing or crochet a scarf or something, I take months to finish it because I'll procrastinate so much. It drives me crazy, but I never fix it! I'm normally a cheery person, but if I'm sick or didn't get enough sleep, I start to act like a cranky 5 year old. They're definitely not my most mature moments. Laziness and being terrible at moving kind of coincide. I absolutely hate having to pack things in boxes and carrying heavy things. It's not always that I can't carry heavy things, because I can for the most part, I just hate the act of doing so. Especially right after a night of work!

I definitely want to change these things about myself, but I have to tackle them one at a time.

Baby steps! :)

Day 17 – My role models

When it comes to classic beauty and femininity, my role models are Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Dita Von Teese, Bettie Page, and Zooey Deschanel. They're all gorgeous women, and the few of them that do / did take their clothes off as a profession, did it with class.

Day 15 – Childhood memory

When I was around 5 or 6, my family had a giant dirt pile in front of our house that was for the grass that was being put in our back yard. On a hot day, the neighborhood kids, my sister, and I decided it would be a good idea to have a water war, so we brought out our bazooka-sized Super Soakers and made water baloon "grenades". Since my house and one of the other kids from across the street's house were right in the middle of our col-de-sac, they were always the team bases. After we picked teams and laid out ground rules (no hoses, that's cheating), we ran to our respective bases' garages and prepared our war tactics.

The other team ended up using the hose, so we used the dirt pile as a barrier / attack mountain. We didn't even keep track of who won or lost, it would always end with everyone getting soaked and someone crying because their eye got hit with water. Fun times, I kind of miss them. lol

What's your favorite childhood memory? :)

Day 14 – First Kiss

When I had my first kiss, I was 14. I was in a long distance relationship with a fellow teenage geek I met via mutual friends on an anime chat room. Remember chat rooms, everyone? lol Anyways, he was in town with his family so he, my mom, my sister, and I hung out for the day, after meeting his mom of course. It was an incredibly awkward "first date", especially with my mom and sister being around, but it was a great day that ended with my first kiss. When we were driving back to the hotel he was staying at, and he just leaned over and kissed me. I was extremely shy and froze up. lol I guess it didn't bother him though, because we stayed together for a few more months after that with him visiting often.

So that's it! I didn't want to bore you with too many details of my nerdy, teen love! lol How old were you when you had your first kiss? :)

Day 13 – My Dreams

My life dreams are: to become a fashion designer and own / run my own clothing store, to have a few "side careers" involving some form of art, and to get married and have a kid or two.

Now as for becoming a fashion designer, I don't mean becoming a world-wide household name, like Coco Chanel or Michael Kors. I just want to make wearable art that people love, and be successful enough to at least live comfortably and to own and run my own store, even just one. I wouldn't mind becoming as big as Coco Chanel, don't get me wrong! lol But I think my dream goal is realistic enough.

Day 12 – Bad Habits and Burdens

Let's see, my bad habits and burdens... I would have to say they are biting my nails (I've been using nail polish to quit, week 4!), scratching my head often for no reason (only when I can't bite my nails), ALWAYS running late for something, feeling too lazy or tired to do something (not frequent, but often enough to be notable), under-dressing on my days off (PJs became a uniform for a while...), falling asleep with my glasses on, and I get into a cleaning freak out frenzy if the apartment gets too messy (I completely refuse to stop or relax until I'm done cleaning, weird).

I'm trying to quit all my habits, though it might take a while, but I like my cleaning frenzy so I'm in no hurry to change that. lol Wish me luck! I would have skipped this post since it's so boring, but I have to stick to the list of topics for the challenge. lol

What are some bad habits or burdens that you have? :)

Day 11 – A Regular Day (Weekend) in my Home

My Wednesdays and Thursdays normally start with eating dinner (breakfast for normal people) and doing any errands Aaron and I have to do for the day, such as groceries, picking up pay checks, etc. After that, we try to take a nap during the day until we wake up at around 5 or 6pm (we work at night, so we try to keep our sleep schedule the same). During the evening, we mostly just watch movies or have a show marathon on Netflix, or we have friends over. Eventually I get tired again since I don't get a lot of sleep during my work week, and end up falling asleep for most of the night, until about 4am, while Aaron stays up.

On Friday, we have dinner, sleep until 5pm, and hang out together until Aaron has to go to work. After that, I clean up the apartment a bit and start my laundry before I do anything else, then I watch Netflix while I catch up on my crocheting, draw a little, play video games, and take yet another nap before Aaron gets home in the morning.

My weekends are a bit boring, but I'm hoping we can change that soon since the holidays are over and we'll have more money to go do stuff. I can't wait to be able to go to the movies again! :)

Day 10 – 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

1) My semi-mysterious night job is as a house manager for a rehab program, I stay awake all night to make sure our clients are sleeping right and not breaking rules, plus I monitor them when they take their medication. I'm basically a professional lurker / ninja. lol

2) I want to have many different careers at once that has something to do with art, not just one. Most preferably, a fashion designer / stylist with my own shop that also does interior design and custom artwork on the side. Yep, I'll be a busy woman!

3) I can be a bit of a Susie Homemaker sometimes. I love baking and am starting to love cooking the more I learn, plus I like to keep a tidy apartment and fix old clothes that have a few holes (still getting around to some of my sewing projects though!).

4) I'd like to have a family of my own someday, complete with husband, pets, and a kid. I'm already a part of the way there, having a small family with my boyfriend, Aaron, and his cat, Bowie, and adopting a second cat soon, and that's perfect for me at this point in my life. Though when I do have a son / daughter (not until I'm at least 25!), I'll have to cut one of my many careers from my list. lol

5) If my job gave me the chance to move to Reno, NV by expanding the company, I'd be there in a heartbeat! I want to be able to see my best friend again, whom goes to UNR currently, and I fell in love with the city after I went there in September.

(More after the jump.)

Day 09 – My siblings

Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to say about my siblings. Well I have two of them, both of them sisters.

Chelsea
Chelsea is my younger sister, a 2 and a half year age difference. She's basically the exact opposite of me. She's very messy, loud, can be a bit irresponsible. She just moved out of my apartment today and things will be great. We get along much better when we aren't living together, it's always been that way. Even though we argue often, I still defend her when other people fight with her. It's a love hate relationship. lol

Cat
(I would post a picture, but not without her consent.)
Cat is my older sister, half-sister to be exact, with I believe a 22 year age difference. Yep, my sister is old enough to be my mom. lol I don't really know a lot about her life now other than what facebook says, we just recently started talking again after nearly 12 years. All I can tell you about her is that she got married this year, we have similar tastes in music and movies, and she's a security officer. She was my role model when I was a kid, I thought she was so cool and she still is. When I would visit her when we were younger, I would always stare at the collection of horror movie monster and villain dolls that she handmade. She also had so many ear piercings, the most being 13 in one ear and I thought that was awesome. I wish she was still in Vegas so that we could catch up, but she's living all the way in Florida now.

That's pretty much it, I'm a middle child with all girl siblings.
So what are your siblings like? :)

Day 08 – Favorite blogs

I keep up with so many blogs, I'm happy I use Bloglovin' to keep track of them all! I have many favorites in different categories. In order by category and from most favorite to not-as-favorite are:
Elsie Larson writes about everything, from DIY decor and treats to everyday life and How-To posts to clothes and her vintage shop, Red Velvet. I admire her because of this, her creativity, and her upbeat, feminine look and personality. If you like pumpkin pie milkshakes, vintage anything, personal style, and DIY, I highly recommend checking this blog out.

Keiko Lynn writes about her everyday life and personal style as well as hair and make up tutorials and some upcoming things from her store, Postlapsaria, every now and again. I like her posts because she lets you into bits of her life without giving out every detail. Definitely bookmark her blog if you're into personal style blogs as well.

(More blogs about motherhood, tattoos, food, and interior design after the jump.)

Day 07 – My Beliefs or Philosophy

I don't consider myself as a part of any one religion, but I do believe in some sort of higher power. I believe in having good morals and doing the right thing when you know right from wrong, just as almost every other religion preaches. I don't believe that if I do the wrong thing, I'll go to Hell or some sort of Hell-like place, but I do believe in Karma in a sense, plus it's just better to be nice to everyone. The thought of just becoming dead is too pessimistic for me, so I like to think that all of our souls go to a certain place after death, not being judged of whether or not we were good enough during our lives. I also like to think that we have more than just one life, we go to this "certain place" for as long as we like, then eventually start a new life all over again.

In my opinion, the only things that should matter is having good morals and doing whatever makes you happy in life instead of living in fear of your judgement day. And if a higher power does exist, I highly doubt they could ever hate a living creature for their sexual orientation. Someone is born gay or straight, but they have the choice to either hide in the closet, or be themselves, and the hypothetical higher power gave them the freedom to choose that.

Didn't mean to bring the sexual orientation thing into this, but religious / spiritual beliefs and sexual orientation seem to go hand-and-hand nowadays. lol Anyways, that's what I believe.

What are your beliefs? And please, no religion / LGBT bashing. :)

Day 05 – Friends

I have 4 close friends. After my best friend, Carley, they're in no particular order. I'll have to update this with pictures as soon as I can. :)

Carley
Though we've known each other since 3rd grade, she's been my best friend since we were 14. Back in high school, we were practically twins. There were even a few times when her brother thought I was her. lol We used to do everything together and were inseparable. We mostly went to her house after school to make ramen and watch movies, but we also went to a close by coffee shop or Starbucks and hung out at the park. After graduation, she moved to Reno for university. I don't see her as much anymore, but she visits during her school breaks and I'm planning a visit there for her 21st birthday next month. Every time we see each other again, it's like nothing had changed and we still act like a couple of idiots when we're around each other. lol

Raymond
I've known Raymond since we were 13, we were friends with the same people so we eventually became best friends easily. He's definitely one of my nerdier friends, we had CADD class together in 10th grade and he likes to take electronics apart to see how they work and puts them back together with no problem. He's also a fellow anime / video game / Doctor Who fan, who knows how many marathons we've watched or games we've played together. lol

(2 more awesome, close friends after the jump.)

Day 04 – If this was my last day…

Well first of all, if there was something I could do to prevent my death, I would. But if there was no other option, I would probably start by calling my dad & talking to him for a long time, then I'd do the same with calling my best friend. After that, I would have my friends and family in town come visit me for a while for Chinese food. Nearing the end of the day, I'd like to have a date night with Aaron and spend the rest of my time with him. Of course I'd be crying through the day, but I would try to hide it and not let anyone know that it was my last day because I wouldn't want to upset anyone.
RIP Cassandra. ♥
